Mission Statement

The mission of Jacksonville High School is to create a supportive community of learners that will meet the academic, emotional, social, and physical needs of high school students in a safe and orderly environment.

General Information

Currently there are 1085 students attending Jacksonville High School. Over 200 academic and vocational courses are offered. Students may earn college credit in some courses through dual enrollment and through AP exams. AP courses are available in English, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, United States History, American Government, and Economics. A well-rounded athletic program permits competition in individual and team sports. The Career and Technology Education program provides many opportunities for students to graduate with skills in computers, marketing, agricultural, human development, industrial engineering, and personal and protective service careers.



These are the ANNOUNCEMENTS for JHS:

1.  ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS :  Our annual College Fair will be Thursday,   November 19th from 2:45 - 4:00p.m. in the cafeteria. Please be thinking of questions to ask the   many recruiters that will be available from each University or College. If you have not applied  to any  college for fall of 2010, now is the time. Please see Mrs. Weeks for transcript requests. 

2. ATTENTION STUDENTS: Its time for the Battle of the Sexes (this means boys vs. girls): Whichever group brings the most can foods before November 20th will win an extra school spirit day Thursday December 3rd. Teachers do get to participate!!!  Boys bring your cans to Mr.  Nelson's room Portable 3... Girls bring your cans to Mrs. Swedoski Room 109... Please bring them before or after school.   

3. " It's a lifestyle" is back!  Visit the clinic to pick up your application to receive a free 12 week membership to Trinity Mother Frances Health and Fitness Center.  If selected, students will workout with fitness experts and gain valuable nutritional counseling.  Deadline for entry is December 4, 2009.  

4.  Orders for senior shirts and hoodies will be taken in front of the office during D lunch from Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 4. T-shirts will be $15, and hoodies will be $25, with sizes 2XL through 4XL costing $2 extra. Order forms will be available from senior English teachers beginning Monday, Nov. 30.

5.  Frazer Realty and Business Professionals of America are sponsoring an I-POD giveaway.  It is a Touch model and is a 32 Gigabyte  Tickets are $2.00 each and are available in Room 408 or from any BPA member.  Winner will be announced on December 17.  Buy a ticket today!!  You could be a winner by Christmas!!!!

6.  There will be a student Council meeting Thursday morning, Nov. 19th at 7:15 in the library.

7.  Picture retakes will be Thursday, Nov. 19th, you must go to room 138 to sign the retake list or if you have any questions see Mrs. Orozco.

 

8. Seniors listen up, if you have not registered to take the ACT on Dec. 12th, the deadline for late registration is this Friday, Nov. 20th. After the Dec. testing date, the next available date is February 6th.  See your counselor for information about registering for one of those dates.

  Lon Morris College is hosting a campus visit day on December 5th.  You can tour the campus, meet the faculty, get academic and financial aid information and enjoy a free lunch.  Information to register is posted on the counselor's bulletin board in the main hall. 

Also don't forget to check frequently for information about colleges and available scholarships posted on the bulletin board and wall outside library. 

9.  Coach Hammontree is now taking orders for soccer hoodies and t-shirts.  You can drop by his classroom P-7 to pickup an order form.
