	Jacksonville Education Foundation Making a Difference for the Future

The mission of the Jacksonville Education Foundation is to support improvement of academic performance of Jacksonville Independent School District and continuing education.

The Foundation does not compete with the band, drama, football, or any other school fundraisers. It is a separate entity that works with the school district on common goals and is structured to help build a long-term support base for education.

The Foundation may accept donations and bequeathments the school district is not allowed to accept. Donations may be designated for capital improvements, student scholarships, teacher stipends, certifications or other purposes.

Dr. Joe Wardell, JISD Superintendent of Schools, accepts the initial donation from Nathan Jones and Jeff Austin III, both of Austin Bank, to kick-off the Jacksonville Education Foundation initial fund raising efforts in March of 2009.

Influential Indian Award:

The Jacksonville Education Foundation's Influential Indian Award affords individuals the opportunity to honor those who they feel have made a real difference in education in Jacksonville. By making a donation of $1,000 or more, you may honor someone who has contributed to the legacy of education in Jacksonville. The person honored, or the contributer if the gift is made as a memorial, will receive a framed certificate indicating that the person has been named an "Influential Indian."

The first two Jacksonville Education Foundation Influential Indian Awards were presented at the JISD 2009 Convocation.

The first two Influential Indian Awards were presented at the 2009 JISD Convocation. The first went to Dr. Cordel Adams, the keynote speaker, who donated to the Foundation in memory of his mother, Mrs. Codellia Adams, a long-time Jacksonville educator. The second was presented to Mrs. Judy Terry who inspired the JISD Central Office staff to make a donation to the Foundation in her name.
