2009-2010 School Year Convocation
Jacksonville ISD's 2009-2010 School Year Convocation on Monday, August 17, was a rousing success. Dr. Cordell Adams, JHS Class of 1979, helped get the school year off to a great start by encouraging the teachers in the audience to teach from the heart and not just what is in the textbooks.
Jeff Austin III, Vice Chairman of Austin Bank and President of the Jacksonville Education Foundation kicked off a new program announced by the foundation, the "Influential Indian Award." Dr. Adams honored the memory of his mother Cordelia Adams, a long time JISD teacher, with the first Influential Indian Award with a $3,000 donation to the foundation.
